My wife and I had Kentucky Hardwood Flooring install Somerset hardwood floors in 1250 square feet of our house. (See pictures in the gallery section of this web page). I began my search for an installer by looking at many reviews and was dismayed by the number of horror stories of people that had hardwood installed. It was very clear to me that the installation, even more so than the choice of a quality wood product, was a critical factor when considering wood floors for our home. I went to the National Wood Flooring Association web site to see if I could find a certified installer in my area. There is only one listed and that is Kentucky Hardwood Flooring. I contacted the owner Eric and chose his company to install my floors. Eric expertly walked me through the necessary steps for a successful flooring installation. I did not realize the number of things you have to consider even before the installation begins, including moisture testing of the sub-floor, acclimation of the new wood floors in the home, base board spacing for expansion, and so on. He has purchased the very best cutting saws and floor nail guns to be able to lay the wood perfectly. His job cutting around the base of our creek stone fireplace was noteworthy. Eric’s attention to detail around door jams and molding was exceptional. Needless to say, we were totally satisfied with the outcome. So bottom line, if you are looking for a quick installation don’t call KHF because Eric is going to take his time to give you a floor to be proud of, a floor that looks like it came straight out of Southern Living magazine.
One quick note: I talked to several flooring retail companies before KHF for pricing information on the wood and the installation cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the pricing from KHF was very competitive with the retail stores when comparing quality wood flooring like Somerset.
I originally thought of repairing the wood floors on the second floor of my home. After looking at my options I decided that replacing it would be a better choice. The wood manufactures seem to have one common theme which is get a National Wood Floor Association certified installer to be sure of the best outcome. I looked on the NWFA website to find out if there was such a person in my area. In Louisville only Eric Harley of Kentucky Hardwood Flooring was listed. I asked Eric to help find and install a product that would preserve the historical value of my home. Eric brought several wood samples to my home that were not only top quality but were manufactured in Somerset KY. The product we selected was Somerset Color Strip golden solid red oak. Eric spent time explaining all of the wood options, details of how the job would progress and what to expect. This entire process went seamlessly and the job by Kentucky Hardwood Flooring was beautiful. Eric’s attention to detail and craftsmanship were very much a part of the success of my project. This has been a major improvement to my home and a good investment as well. I have no regrets and I would recommend Kentucky Hardwood Flooring and Eric to anyone looking for a quality job.
Eric’s workmanship is 2nd to none. We love Eric’s attention to detail, he takes great pride in his work and it shows. He answered any and all questions we had and went above and beyond what was asked of him. He has our A1 approval rating!

I wanted to take out the carpet in my office, and install new flooring. I got a couple quotes, and then also got a price from from KHF. They were very competitive, and lower than most. Eric did a really good job. He went above and beyond what he had to do.We are thrilled with the results. He was very articulate in all phases of the job. When he was done, everything was cleaned up and looked great. I highly recommend KHF for your next flooring job. I am planning on using them again when I need flooring work.
We had a challenging time finding the right combination of products to match our existing interior and a high-quality installer, until we were introduced to Eric at KYHWF. We were told he was Certified and after one meeting felt he was the right choice. Things went smoothly and professionally, start-to-finish. Eric took the time to properly asses our location, discussed with me how to best pattern the wood to compliment the flow in the house, he made sure to check in at regular intervals of progress and then finished the project perfectly. It’s beautiful, he did an amazing job! The install was meticulous, it should last a lifetime. Always happy to refer folks to Eric and KYHWF for projects – great guys, great company.
