My wife and I had Kentucky Hardwood Flooring install Somerset hardwood floors in 1250 square feet of our house. (See pictures in the gallery section of this web page). I began my search for an installer by looking at many reviews and was dismayed by the number of horror stories of people that had hardwood installed. It was very clear to me that the installation, even more so than the choice of a quality wood product, was a critical factor when considering wood floors for our home. I went to the National Wood Flooring Association web site to see if I could find a certified installer in my area. There is only one listed and that is Kentucky Hardwood Flooring. I contacted the owner Eric and chose his company to install my floors. Eric expertly walked me through the necessary steps for a successful flooring installation. I did not realize the number of things you have to consider even before the installation begins, including moisture testing of the sub-floor, acclimation of the new wood floors in the home, base board spacing for expansion, and so on. He has purchased the very best cutting saws and floor nail guns to be able to lay the wood perfectly. His job cutting around the base of our creek stone fireplace was noteworthy. Eric’s attention to detail around door jams and molding was exceptional. Needless to say, we were totally satisfied with the outcome. So bottom line, if you are looking for a quick installation don’t call KHF because Eric is going to take his time to give you a floor to be proud of, a floor that looks like it came straight out of Southern Living magazine.
One quick note: I talked to several flooring retail companies before KHF for pricing information on the wood and the installation cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the pricing from KHF was very competitive with the retail stores when comparing quality wood flooring like Somerset.
